Things so far..

Things are looking good so far. (^*^) I was going to take four classes, three of them online and one on-campus art class. One of them canceled, though, so I checked with the financial aid people and they said I'll just be getting a smaller amount of grant money for taking fewer classes. So since Two-Dimensional Design (AR 103) turned out to be much less drawing than I was hoping for (we'd do one, maybe two drawings and mostly paint), and because it was a M/W/F class instead of the T/R class I was hoping for, I decided to drop it.

Right now, I'm taking Digital Photography for Fine Arts (AR 112) and Elements of Statistics (MA 116). Statistics I'm taking as a repeat to try for a better grade and photography I'm taking to have some fun. Both of them I'm taking to maintain my Phi Theta Kappa membership so I can see about getting health insurance through them, and they're both online. This gives me mornings before work off, means I can take extended weekends without putting myself behind in classes and all that good stuff.

Also, just yesterday I picked the required materials for my photography course: Adobe Creative Suite CS2.3 Premium, an $1199 software package, for $199. The $199 should be reimbursed in a couple of weeks thanks to grant money. So about $1200 in art and web software completely free and legal. *squee!*

Also, helen99 is offering me the use of her spare digital camera, now that her favorite one is fixed, so that will save me time and money on picking up disposable cameras and using scans of the pictures. Complete with travel case, spare batteries, 512 MB memory card and USB/FireWire cable. yay!

So I can continue to try and clean out my head and defrag things while still attending both work and school.. and as I do that I can work on eating healthfully, saving money and working on what I'll be doing about getting more income and finding a new place to live. Which reminds me, I still have to see about stopping by that Indian grocer in Takoma Park..

Glad things are working out so well ^^ That software deal is pretty sweet. Wish I could get in on that action

I would help you out with that if I could, but I think I'm only allowed to buy one copy. I could potentially pick something else up on your behalf, though. Wouldn't be covered by grant money but would still have a significant discount.

Did you get it at the MCCC store? The whole suite?

Ya, MC Rockville bookstore. Whole suite including Adobe Bridge, ImageReady, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro, Design, GoLive, Illustrator and Dreamweaver. And some other utilities and things.. and video training stuff.

I was asking because I had just bought CS2.3 the same day. Pretty sure the only difference was the bookshelf type box and a book that tells very little about everything for $400 at UMBC. So too late for me, but that is a good store to know about.
How is your install going? Mine made me want more memory.

Aa.. ya I didn't get any reading material with it (aside from whatever help files and documents come on the CDs). The base install went fine (I have 1.5 GB memory). I haven't added the utilities, the Acrobat Pro upgrade or Dreamweaver yet.. or the video tutorials.

Will get around to it this evening prolly. I'll have to check what my FSB is.. but ya, I do tend to be patient with installs because my CD/DVD drive is shoddy. I've started waiting five minutes between disks in multi-disk installs because after the first three it'll start leaving scuff marks on the disks which then causes it to start skipping and eventually fail to install properly. I need to ship it in for repairs sometime but for now I kind of need it to be around as I don't have a spare to work with.

Let us know if you want to head over there with us some time. We go there an average of about once a week, lol.

Sure! This is onna those things I just don't get around to. My life has become way too routine and when it isn't, it usually involves me vegging because am totally burned out. So lemme know when you wanna go. Probably a weekend would be best for me, or a morning before work.

Sounds good. Just let us know when you want to go and we'll head up there with you or I'll send Rab up there while I watch Odin. It's not the best store to take Odin in since it's kinda small and they don't have carts that kids can sit in -- lots of stuff to grab at.:)
