Health note

I've been getting a strange sort of headache after every Aikido class I attend.. not sure what that means. I was reading recently that they've been finding Lyme disease can effect neurobiology via increased stress hormone release and decreased Tryptophan (which means lower serotonin). So, more stress, less happiness; that about fits what I've been going through. Really need to get some good medical insurance sometime and start on the path to finding out what all is actually going on with me post-Lyme.. for now, I can just try and regulate my diet, sleep, exercise and exposure to sunlight to try and improve things.. slow progress on these things.

I would think, though, that Aikido would actually be a de-stressor if anything so I'm not sure I follow how the two would be related. Sorry I didn't make it last night, btw, I didn't get out of work until almost 7:45pm.

Right. I really like Aikido and all, but if my brain is wired to release stress hormones rather than endorphins.. I dunno. Could be anything, I guess, but whatever the case, I feel poopy after Aikido for some reason.

No worries, though, it was just Matt and myself there tonight (and apparently it was just Matt there last week).

Oh, I see what you're saying, so you think that maybe the Lyme is sending reversed signals to your body causing the headaches, then. That really sucks. Do you think that all exercise will do this to you or just the Aikido? I wonder if ki development has a weird affect with lyme.

I dunno.. my guess is it's more the exercise in general. Gonna try the fluids/fruits thing like hummingwolf mentioned and see if that helps any. I just want healthy things to start actually feeling like healthy things again, rather than bringing me pain.

One other possibility is that the exercise leads to just enough dehydration or potassium deficiency for you to get noticeably imbalanced. Even if you think you're getting enough water, it might not hurt to drink an extra glass & eat an extra piece of fruit or something.

I don't want to discredit your lead that it might be another side effect of lyme, but I know when I'm in class, if I don't roll properly, or if I roll while I'm tensing up, funny things start happening in my cranial cavity. Just a thought, just trying to help. Good luck in your practice!

hm.. that seems reasonable, but I only just started doing rolls yesterday, and hadn't in the prior classes. Still.. could be some shaking around in there, I guess. And it might just be my body being generally cranky. It just seems to last for a couple of days afterward..
