(no subject)

So holidays were decent. Head is too fuzzy to articulate things. There was more good Kashable food, time spent with friends and family, and also a newer, warmer hoody involved. Plus anime. bossgoji, mmsword, and I helped introduce taliabear to mecha shows. We only got through Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory and Aim for the Top!: Gunbuster while I was there, but they should be following those with Evangelion, Aim for the Top! 2: Diebuster, and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. (Not sure which version of EVA they'll be watching, the original series or the new movie, Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone.)

We also collected for dinner and a movie, but the movie had to be postponed due to tickets being sold out. We still had a good Thai dinner and watched Avatar on the weekend. It was an enjoyable film, but nothing brilliant. It was very pretty with some really great photorealistic CG at times, but the plot wasn't terribly interesting and the quintessential bad guy was not very compelling. Still, it makes me excited for the possibility of finally getting a live-action Battle Angel Alita movie from James Cameron in the next couple years. (Alita/Gally will, of course, be CG, but looking at the navi in Avatar, that should not detract from the film's quality at all.)

Anyways! We also watched Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conquerer of Shamballa on Blu-ray, which was crazy. I guess they did what they could with the direction the old series went, but I am so glad Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood exists. The first season (14 episodes) was rough at times as they rushed through material we'd seen in the original, but it's been much better than the original since then in my opinion, following the manga more closely (which, given that the original really didn't follow the manga at all after the first season, isn't hard to do).

So it was nice to see people, not think about life too much, watch crazy shows, have good food, and things. My family is now associating with my previously disowned half-brother again, so that's interesting. My mom wanted to gauge our reactions to seeing him again, and we essentially agreed that he seems to be more or less the same person who is fine to spend time with casually but none of us will be lending him money or anything like that. He's been upgraded to 100% disability through the VA, so he's getting more money and health benefits and should be doing pretty well. He's engaged to a woman with two adorable children that all seem to love him, so that's good.

Um, lessee.. sashimi had.. Kasha baked a gluten-free low-sugar dark chocolate sauerkraut cake! It turned out well except for forgetting to finely chop the sauerkraut. (It wasn't in the instructions but was mentioned in the ingredients list.) So the cake tastes the same but is a little more chewy than it should be. It is almost gone, and then Kasha shall attempt to make another.

I wish I was better at remembering the subtler details of my experiences. There were cuddles here and there, as well as conversations. It was my first time seeing bossgoji in person, who is visiting from out of state. It was good to see mmsword's dad in person again, since the usual contact with him is receiving awful, awful forwarded e-mails. (It is good to be reminded that I actually like him and the e-mails don't all directly represent his personality.)

I started my dosage of methylphenidate, which has been making me both drowsy and hungry. I actually kinda like the drowsiness, 'cause while it makes me even less alert, it is also the closest I have come to being relaxed in years. My citalopram dosage was increased in advance to compensate for the stimulant effects of the drug which can increase anxiety. Just saw the therapist today and signed some paperwork to allow her to help me more and also to sign up for Care Connection, a psychiatric rehabilitation/case management organization which is covered by PAC. They will do things like come to your house and help you manage your life, your benefits, etc. They should be able to help me receive proper medical assistance, keep my schedules, and things like that. It seems pretty awesome, should it all work out. Tomorrow I have to make phone calls to PAC, JAI, and.. em.. something else, I think. Need to get certain coverage issues sorted and also look into switching managed care organizations, since JAI hasn't really been serving my needs. (In particular, they don't make appointments, so I have to sit in an office without food in crappy chairs for an entire data just to be seen for a few minutes by a not particularly competent doctor, which is incredibly painful and stressful.)

And.. Imma shut up now. Bye bye.
