Scary people claiming to be Christians.

The rising Assembly of God motto: Convert or die.

I Am A Conservative Christian, And The Religious Right Scares Me Too

-Article by Pastor Chuck Baldwin

These companies line Bush's pockets -- boycott them

-If anyone can confirm that last one with evidence, would be much appreciated. Am thinking of looking for contact information to let those companies know of intent to boycott, once more information is available.

That last site was interesting. Between the spelling errors ("donars" and "shreeding" among them) and the blatant lack of information ("Need more information" all over the place) I don't know what to criticize first. Oh, and there's always the fact that it encourages you to boycott all fifty of these companies at once, companies that include UPS and waste management.

I have my own political criticisms of how Bush is running this country (and will continue to do so for another 4 years... sigh...) But sorry, I'll live just the way I am rather than refuse to flush my toilet in protest.

:noddly: ee.. Ya. For the most part, it doesn't even effect me. It made me consider getting rid of my Fleet card though, since they were recently bought out by Bank of America..

This is why the mention of wanting verification, and also looking for contact info. Would want to verify first that they are giving Bush money, and not to other parties, and then voice my opinion to them, rather than simply not buy their products/services (especially since ah don't use most of 'em, anyway).

The site is definitely very amateur.. but it's owned/put together by that Clinton Curtis guy, who recently spoke in testimony before congress about having been commissioned back in October 2000 by now-congressman Republican Tom Feeny, to write a vote-rigging software program. That's how ah got the link, following a trail of sites and information.. would like to find out how valid it all is.

And as for the other two articles... well... I hope someone has sense enough to move to impeach, should things get that serious.

Ya.. we'll see. From my own observations, Bush himself doesn't seem to be quite as deep in the religious front as many dominionist/Assembly of God people are. Although that may well simply be a political thing. Not that he's really hidden his religious side so much, but the folk not in the administration seem a lot more openly psychotic, at least.

Well, that was Rome, until fourth century, mya? And all the Romans back then did to the Christians what it looks like these dominionists are trying to do to the rest of us today.

'Course.. the Christians already got their revenge. Like, a whole lot. Over and over.. so ah dunno what this is all about. Just plain ol' fashion stupidity with a mix o' psychosis, s'pose.

Actually, the Romans didn't really believe in their whole big pantheon. They had statues and festivals and feasts and all, but it was to them pretty much what it is to us today: a set of legends that were part of their culture. They were open to all sorts of new ideas - the reason why so many embraced Christianity when it first spread; it was the promise of a more personal and deep connection. But that very openness was also the reason why many disliked Christianity. It seemed too absolute and closed-minded to them.
